3D is very familiar with the challenges of water and wastewater treatment plant construction; in fact, it's one of our core competencies. Our experience in dealing with large volume flows, large basin construction, phasing of construction, complex electrical, instrumentation and process equipment systems and architecturally complex buildings is second to none.
We've successfully constructed state-of-the-art water and wastewater treatment facilities that required a vast amount of expertise, skill and coordination. In one such project, many of the plant's administrative buildings were over 10,000 square feet of floor space with additional chemical facilities that also exceeded 10,000 square feet under roof.
Water Treatment Facilities Construction
Water treatment facility construction is complex. And 3D — one of the southeast's foremost leaders in this type of construction — is just the company to tackle the job.
One of our complex projects required pipelines and pumping systems with pressures as high as 400 psi. Other projects necessitated pumps with over 2,000 horsepower to drive flows. Some of these facilities were designed with instrumentation and controls to enable unmanned operation.
In one project, 3D's people installed a 48" diameter pipeline on a 500' high rock cliff; a 1,000 horsepower helicopter hoisted the pipe on cast-in-place concrete pipe supports carved into the rock cliff.
